Week 24
The Pirates are currently 58-84 and still in fifth place in the central. This week the Pirates travel to Cincinatti for a four game series against the Reds who are 68-74 this season, and whom the Pirates are 3-5 against. They then come home for a three game series against the Phillies who are currently 84-59 and whom the Pirates are 1-2 against this season.

The Pirates promoted SP Ian Oquendo from AA to AAA. Oquendo was 10-8 with a 3.45 ERA in 22 starts for the Curve this season. They also promoted LF Manuel Ravelo from A to AA. Ravelo hit 0.308 with 12 HR and 85 RBIs in 523 ABs for the Hillcats this season.

Game 143: Pirates 4 Reds 8
Fogg picked up his 16th loss of the season, giving up five runs in four innings. Bobby Basham gave up four runs in just 1 1/3 innings and got a no decision. Riedling picked up the win, pitching three scoreless innings for the Reds.

Game 144: Pirates 3 Reds 5
Suppan gave up all five Reds' runs in eight innings, pitching a complete game, but picking up his 14th loss of the season. Roy Oswalt pitched a gem, giving up just one run in seven innings of work, for his 10th win of the year. Williamson pitched a scoreless ninth for his 37th save of the year.

Game 145: Pirates 14 Reds 2
In his first start of the season, Dave Williams gave up just one run in five innings, earning himself the win. The Pirates smashed Danny Graves scoring 6 runs off of him in 1 2/3 innings.

Game 146: Pirates 6 Reds 1
Benson pitched a gem of a game, giving up just one run in six innings and picking up his 15th win of the season. Reitsma picked up his 15th loss, giving up two runs in six innings. The Pirates sealed the deal by scoring four runs in two innings off the bullpen.

Series Recap: The Pirates managed to split the series by winning the last two-games of the four-game series. They still trail the Reds 5-7 for the season series.

Game 147: Pirates 5 Phillies 2 Fireworks Night at PNC Park
Perez had another great game, giving up just one run in seven innings, and picking up his 7th win of the year. Myers gave up just two runs, one earned, in six innings but picked up the loss, his 12th of the year. The Pirates scored three runs in two innings against the Phillies bullpen, to seal the deal.

Game 148: Pirates 1 Phillies 6
Josh Fogg had a very poor outing, giving up six runs in 3 2/3 innings, and picked up his 17th loss of the season. Terry Adams pitched a complete game for the Phillies, giving up just one run, and earning his 14th win of the season.

Game 149: Pirates 7 Phillies 2
Joe Beimel made the start for the still injured Jeff Suppan today, and did very well giving up just two runs in five innings, despite giving up eight hits. Wolf got the loss for the Phillies, giving up five runs, three earned, in five innings of work.

Series Recap: The Pirates won 2 out of 3 of this series and managed to split the season series three games a piece against the Phillies.

Around the league, on Sunday Yankees Bernie Williams collected his 2000th career hit in the eighth inning against Devil Rays' John Stephens.
