Week 23
The Pirates are not planning on calling up any prospects until the minor legue season is over. This is due to the fact that every one of the teams are in the pennant race, and we'd like the players to have a feel for what playing for a pennant race is like. The Pirates have promoted MR Kurt Shafer from A to AA. With the Lynchburg Hillcats, Shafer went 5-2 with 1 save and a 2.65 ERA in 43 appearances. The Pirates this week travel to Florida for a three game series against the Marlins, who are 61-76 and whom the Pirates are 3-0 against. They then travel to Atlanta for three games against the Braves who are currently 72-66 and whom the Pirates are 3-3 against. The promotions for September will be as follows:
9/12 - Fireworks Night against the Phillies
9/16 - Glove Day against the Reds
9/18 - Baseball Cap Day against the Reds
9/20 - Noddin Head Doll Day against the Cubs
