As for Major League baseball, as of July 27, 1881, the Detroit Wolverines currently lead the Boston Red Caps in the AL by two, and Worcester by three and a half. The Brown Stockings are in fourth by percentage points over the Blues and the Athletics. There are about forty or so games to play, more or less, for most of the teams in the AL.
In the NL, the Centennials currently lead the Mutuals and the Trojans by the equivalent of five and a half games. The White Stockings are right behind those two, the equivalent of another game back, although some tieams in both subleagues have not yet played the same number of games with each other in the season. Buffalo is just under .500, while Cincinnati and Providence are currently below .400. with Cincinnati at .382 and Providence at .340 at present. It appears quite probable at this point that Providence will end up at the bottom of the NL, when the season is over, for multiple reasons.
Much more information later, as possible and all, of course, folks. CD out.
