Warning: Random thoughts and questions ahead!

Given most of us don't have unlimited PP, and that you can't buy a perfect player for every spot on the field, I was thinking about team construction, and how to possibly be more efficient in making a team.

For example, do you guys think there are certain positions where it's ok to "skimp?" For instance, is it reasonable to play Bronze Aparicio at SS on a team in Diamond/Perfect and use the PP you save there on say a really good 3B? What about a LF who hits a ton but has a green or yellow defense rating? They're probably a dime a dozen. Pay 3k for a guy like that and spend the big bucks on an outstanding CF? How much of a drag is the average defense in LF?

I think most people would say you can't skimp on starting pitching if you want to compete at the highest level (right?). But can you skimp a bit on the relief staff? Like have 2 or 3 really good guys and the rest be average?

What about outfielders? I don't think I'd ever put a bad fielder at CF but in Left? Maybe. What about 1B? Put a average defender there who swings a big bat? I do that! Maybe that's my problem!!

Now I know you could plop Aparicio at SS and leave him there but is that a workable idea? Could a team with Bronze Aparicio compete in Perfect or is the lack of offense going to sink you?

Are these questions too specific? After all, every team is built differently. And there's not one way to build a winner... so are the answers to these questions "it depends"? And do we have that much flexibility in how we build a team to compete in Perfect?

Just thinking about stuff!
