Aside from specific players, what do you think a good strategy for spending the windfall is? This is more PP than I'll ever see at one time again, so whatever I do, I only get to do it once!

Motown is in Diamond and is doing ok there - hovering around the 80-88 win range. One of the issues that makes upgrading more difficult is that the team theme is players between 1959 and 1988 so the choice of players is limited (though there are still a number of excellent choices). I'm in no rush, but I'm really trying to figure out the best way to use the PP.
I think how you spend depends on how good your team is. If you have a couple burning positions of need, like a couple daily starters who are posting close to zero or even negative WAR every year, they gotta go. In general, if you have 3 bad players on your team, it's better to spend 10k on 3 good players each than to spend 30k on one excellent player.

I think those amounts are basically a good rule of thumb. Once you're at Perfect your starters should generally cost between 5-15k, depending on the position (starting pitchers might cost closer to 20k a la Greg Maddux, and defensive positions like SS for Cronin/Boudreau/Pesky or whoever will cost more than a LF, etc.).

When you're at that level of everyone basically being competent, then you can start to upgrade positions of need into all-star players. Picking up that 30-40k starting pitcher is never a bad option since you ALWAYS need better starting pitching. You also probably need a good CF, SS, and 2B, so spending there is a good idea, etc. If you're not platooning, spending some to make sure that you are can also be much more cost effective than buying a 40k player as well.

I don't actually know how much 91 Hank sells for, but imo that's the idea: Spend to get the ~10k level first, then spend to get the ~30k-40k level, then if your team is truly stacked you can blow 70k on a true superstar.
