Starting a Historical Game, Looking for the Right Settings
Hey, I'll be starting a historical Texas Rangers game as my major save for the rest of OOTP20. I'll be starting in 1972 at the birth of the franchise. The main goals are to do better than the Rangers did historically (pretty easy), and to get as many guys in the Hall of Fame wearing a Texas cap as possible.
I'll want to have rookies imported to their proper team, as that'll save time on the draft and be more fun to use a lot of Rangers players. Will try to avoid stacking the lineup with a bunch of no-brainer players throughout history.
I kind of want things to echo history but also bring some surprises. So I'm thinking of using the OOTP Development Engine but putting down talent change randomness to around 0.9, will this work?
Also am afraid of guys not having lengthy Hall of Fame worthy careers. Will try to trade for Nolan Ryan earlier than the Rangers did, and it would be a shame if he fell apart in his 30s like a lot of players seem to in OOTP. What should I set aging speed down to?
Any other setting suggestions would be nice. What to put for rookie fielding ratings, etc? Entire career? What about for injuries?
I'll also let the league evolve as it did naturally from 1972 to now. Will avoiding bunting and stealing be unethical? Other strategy suggestions would be good. Thank you.
