The Mets are heading to the postseason after cruising to a division title. Your Amazin's finished with a National Conference-best record of 104-58. They were pipped to the post for the best record in the league by the Las Vegas Assassins, who won 10 in a row to finish 105-57. New York finished with a pair of 30/100 players in Mike Piazza (.283, 35 HR, 108 RBI) and Gregg Jefferies (.289, 37 HR, 102 RBI). Tommy Davis (.305, 29 HR, 86 RBI) almost joined them in the 30-HR club.

On the mound, Mickey Lolich was the team's lone 20-game winner, going 20-4 with a 3.30 ERA. Al Leiter (13-6, 2.87) led the team in ERA. John Franco (5-6, 2.13, 35 sv) finished joint top of the save charts with Reyes Moronta of the Houston Snake Eyes.
