2051

The Winnipeg Eagles began the draft by taking Rachel Hicks of Rock Hill High School in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Hicks hit .495 in her senior and had serious power and contact potential. The 2050 no. 1 pick, Jewel Jacobs, hit .228 in 78 games for the Zesty Oranges.

Asheville won the East, going 95-55 and beating Richmond by 2 games. Richmond were the only other eastern team to make the postseason. Beaver won the Central with 93 wins, beating out Hamilton by 1 game. Jasper, at 88-62, also made the playoffs. Lakewood took the #1 seed with 102 wins. They finished ahead of Seattle and Portland, who both made the playoffs.

Try as they might, Keesha DeWilliams’ Vibes couldn’t get past Asheville, being shutout twice as they were swept by their East Division opponents. Portland upset Lakewood in a sweep of their own while Beaver and Seattle also swept. Beaver denied the league with a PNW rivalry final as their beat Portland 3-1 in the semi-final. Seattle beat Asheville by the same score. Beaver came out swinging, cruising to a sweep.

Elena Cortez led in batting average once again, hitting .459. Millie Jonas was home run queen with 49 while Marcia Colon was best at brining them home with 140 RBIs. Hamilton’s Ahri Yamaguchi led in ERA with a 2.12 mark and also led in strikeouts with 222. Victoria de Jesus was the winningest pitcher with 22, the first 20+ season since 2047.

Charlotte’s Toshi Yanagisawa won Rookie of the Year, hitting .329 and 44 home runs. Victoria de Jesus retained the Madeeha Baqri Award with her 22 wins and 2.26 ERA. Elena Cortez won her 9th DeWilliams Award. After deliberation between the league’s administrators and Keesha DeWilliams, the MVP award was renamed the Cortez-DeWilliams award in recognition of the living legend that was Elena Cortez.
