In their inaugural season in the Perfect Team pyramid, the New York Mets are playing below expectations at 51-46. They have fallen off the pace in the division and the wildcard, and should expect to be playing in Iron again next season. They did have two all stars in Mickey Lolich (10-6, 2.85) & Frank Lary (9-6, 3.32). However, neither got into the game.
Offensively, Kevin McReynolds (.203, 12 HR, 39 RBI) has been a huge disappointment. Such a disappointment that the team made a panic buy to replace him against righties in Shawn Green. The Mets finally got rid of poor-performing Terry Leach in favor of Mike Marshall, eliminating a huge hole in their bullpen.
