After going 4-5 on their first road trip of the season, the Mariners return to Seattle for a 7-game home stand beginning with a three game series against the Texas Rangers. The Rangers have lost eight straight. The Mariners lead the season series 2-1.

In the bottom of the first, Olerud put the Mariners on the board with a three run homer.

Moyer was perfect through three.

In the top of the fourth, Alex Rodriguez hit a solo home run with two out.

Sierra led off the top of the sixth with a home run. The Rangers then tied the game on a throwing error by Cameron that allowed Catalanotto to score from first on an Alex Rodriguez single.

After six: Texas 3 Seattle 3.

In the top of the seventh, Kapler put the Rangers in the lead with a two run homer. Joel Piniero tookthe mound with nobody out.

In the bottom of the seventh, Wilson cut the deficit to one with an RBI double.

In the top of the eighth, Kapler added to the Rangers lead with a sacrifice fly. Galarraga followed with an RBI single.

Mike Venafro took the mound for the Rangers in the bottom of the eighth.

Kazuhiro Sasaki took the mound for the Mariners in the top of the ninth. Velarde picked up an RBI with a sacrifice fly.

In the bottom of the ninth, with a runner on first and one out, Francisco Cordero took the mound for the Rangers and he sent the Mariners to 0-5 on the season in series openers.

Final score: Texas 8 Seattle 4.
