In the top of the third, Mays put the Giants on the board with an RBI single. Cepeda brought Mays home with a two out double. Haller followed with a two run homer.
McCormick had a no-hitter through three.

In the top of the fourth, Pagan hit a two out RBI single. Taussig would, however, throw Pagan out at home when he tried to score from second on a McCovey single.
Kasko led off the bottom of the fourth with a single for the Colt .45s first hit of the game. Amalfitano put the Colt .45s on the board with a two out two run single.
In the bottom of the fifth, a Kasko single combined with a McCovey error to give the Colt .45s another run. Aspromonte followed with a two run single to tie the game.
After six: San Francisco 5 Houston 5.
Howie Koplitz took the mound for the Colt .45s in the top of the seventh. The Giants loaded the bases with one out. Kuenn flew to left for the second out. Hiller then grounded to third to retire the side.
Bobby Bolin took the mound for the Giants in the bottom of the ninth and pitched a perfect inning.
After nine: San Francisco 5 Houston 5.
In the top of the tenth, Hiller hit a two run homer. Dick Drott tookthe mound for the Colt .45s with two out.
Don Larsen took the mound for the Giants in the bottom of the tenth. With runners at first and second and two out, Mejias grounded to first to end the game.
The Giants got 10 hits in the victory.
Final score: San Francisco 7 Houston 5 10 innings.
