In the bottom of the second, Bright scored from third when Amalfitano grounded into the 5-4-3.

After three: Houston 1 San Francisco 0.

In the top of the fourth, Davenport scored on a McCovey sac fly to tie the game.

In the bottom of the fourth, Mejias put the Colt .45s back in the lead with a solo home run.

In the top of the sixth, the Giants loaded the bases with two out. Cepeda then put the Giants in the lead with a two run single. Manny Mota then scored from second when Taussig dropped a fly ball by Bailey.

After six: San Francisco 4 Houston 2.

In the bottom of the seventh, pinch hitter Don Buddin put the Colt .45s back within a run with a sacrifice fly. The Colt .45s went on to load the bases with two out. But Kasko flew to left to end the inning.

In the bottom of the eighth, with a runner on first and two out, Stu Miller took the mound for the Giants.

In the top of the ninth, Davenport hit a two out RBI single to give the Giants some breathing room. Mays followed with a three run homer to putthe game away. Phil Ortega took the mound for the Colt .45s immediately after the home run.

The Giants got 10 hits in the win.

Final score: San Francisco 8 Houston 3.
