With a runner at second and two out, Al Cicotte took the mound for the Colt .45s. Flood added an RBI single. Flood would go on to score on an Amalfitano error. Musial came through with an RBI single in his second at bat of the inning. The Cardinals put nine runs on the board in the inning.

Oliver led off the top of the fifth with a home run.

Dick Drott took the mound for the Colt .45s in the top of the sixth.
