The Colt .45s begin a twelve game home stand with a Sunday double header against the Chicago Cubs. The Colt .45s and the Cubs are two of the three teams left in Major League Baseball who do not have thirty wins yet. The Colt .45s lead the season series 4-3.
The Colt .45s traded RP Dean Stone and CF Ron E Davis to the Washington Senators for 1B Harry Bright.
Rumor has it that the Baltimore Orioles have placed RP Billy Hoeft on the trading block.

In the top of the first, Altman put the Cubs on the board with an RBI double. Banks added a sacrifice fly for an RBI.
In the bottom of the second, Brock threw Ranew out at home as he was trying to score from second on a Kasko single. Kasko would go on to score on a Taussig two out single.
In the top of the third, Aspromonte fumbled a Hubbs grounder with two out to allow Santo to score from third. Rodgers followed with a two run triple giving the Cubs three unearned runs in the inning.
In the bottom of the third, Brock did it again, throwing Spangler out at home as he tried to score from second on an Aspromonte single. Mejias followed with a single to load the bases with one out. Ranew popped up to second for the second out. Kasko then grounded to short to end the inning.
After three: Chicago 5 Houston 1.
Bertell led off the top of the sixth with a home run. With a runner on first and one out, Al Cicotte took the mound for the Colt .45s.
In the bottom of the sixth, Ranew scored from third when Kasko grounded to third.
After six: Chicago 6 Houston 2.
In the bottom of the seventh, Hal W Smith scored on a two out error by Santo trying to field an Aspromonte grounder.
Bobby Shantz took the mound for the Colt .45s in the top of the eighth. Brock got an RBI single to increase the Cubs lead.
After a leadoff single in the bottom of the eighth, Don Elston took the mound for the Cubs.
The two teams combined for 22 hits in the contest.

In the top of the sixth, Rodgers tied the game with a two out RBI single.
In the bottom of the sixth, Spangler beat out the 5-4-3, allowing Amalfitano to score the go-ahead run from third.
After six: Houston 5 Chicago 4.
After Brock led off the top of the seventh with a triple, George Brunet replaced Tiefenauer on the mound for the Colt .45s. And stranded Brock at third.
In the bottom of the seventh, with runners at first and second and one out, Barney Schultz took the mound for the Cubs. With two out, Brock threw Aspromonte out at home when he tried to score from second on an Amalfitano single.
In the top of the ninth, with the Colt .45s up by a run, Al Cicotte took the mound to try to save the game. With runners at the corners and two out, Cicotte struck out Williams to give the Colt .45s a split in the double header.
The two teams combined for 21 hits in the contest.
Final score: Houston 5 Chicago 4.
