Tonight is the third game in the series in Houston between the Colt .45s and the New York Mets. The Colt .45s have lost nine straight. The Mets have won three straight.

St Louis Cardinals SS Alex Gammas announced that he will retire at the end of the season.

The Baltimore Orioles traded 2B Jerry Adair and RP Lew Krausse Jr to the Cincinnati Reds for LF Wally Post.

In the top of the sixth, with a runner on first and two out, Dean Stone took the mound for the Colt .45s.

In the top of the seventh, the Mets loaded the bases with one out. Jim Umbricht took the mound for the Colt .45s. Bouchee grounded into the 5-2-3 to retire the side.

Dave Giusti took the mound for the Colt .45s in the top of the eighth.

In the bottom of the eighth, with runners at first and second and one out, Sherman Jones took the mound for the Mets. Aspromonte singled to load the bases with one out. Larker then scored on a balk. Amalfitano knocked in a run with a single. Smith beat out the 6-4-3 and Aspromonte scored from third. With runners at first and second and two out, Giusti, the relief pitcher, hit a threerun homer. Ray Daviault took the mound for the Mets and got the final out as the Colt .45s scored six times in the inning.

The Colt .45s held the Mets to just four hits to end their nine game losing streak.

Final score: Houston 7 New York 0.
