I made 2 moves to address a lack of left handed reliever depth.
First, I signed free agent Joe Sambito to a minor league contract. A top-notch reliever for Houston in the late 70s, he had Tommy John surgery in 83 and hasn't been the same since. Hopefully he can provide depth if needed.
Milwaukee is last in the American League East and going nowhere. I might have gorked the AI a little on this, but I'm 10 games under 500 and I'm not sacrificing the farm.
Two older AAA position players, 1B Jeff Brown and 3B George Foussianes to the Brewers for LRP Bob McClure and LRP Dan Plesac.
McClure has been a lefty specialist for the Brewers, appearing in 20 games with only 7 innings pitched. I'm gonna knock on wood he turns it around. But in his last two appearances, he's faced Cal Ripken, Jesse Barfield and Rance Mulliniks. - 1 lefty.
Plesac has pitched across AA and AAA this year with not much success. 1-1 with an ERA over 6.
Hopefully I can get good results from them, but not a high cost move.
