A long lost season in Tucson is drawing to a close, and despite the 62-81 record, the sidewinders are still playing for something. Granted, you don't get a trophy for avoiding relegation, but for a team that has only known success the morale victory of treading water in Perfect will have to be enough.
Rosterwise, Larry Walker was replaced by Sam Crawford, who I quickly realized would kill me in RF, and after a short trial run of moving Hack Wilson to RF, Pete Rose Sr. has returned to the team. Sam Crawford is probably bumping McGriff from the RHP DH spot next season, but considering performances so far this season, I felt "The Crime Dog" deserved to finish out the season.
Bright spots? Patrick Corbin probably needs to be moved to the rotation, but outside him and Vic Raschi the bullpen has been rough. We've also been very successful on the basepaths, which makes it a shame that we just haven't been getting on base.
