October/November 2067:
MLB:
The regular season ended with a tie-break game in the National League between San Francisco and San Diego for the NL West Division Crown. San Diego earned a bye with a 6-4 victory that improved their record to 82-81 for the season. They have the lowest winning percentage of any Division Winner in the history of the league. Luckily for the Chargers, San Francisco won their wildcard series which made for the lowest combined winning percentage in the second round of the playoffs in the history of the league – they would advance 4-3 after a hard scrabble 7-game series, advancing to the NLCS against the 94-68 St. Louis Rams. Their luck, however, ended there as they were swept by the Rams, who eventually went on to win the World Series over the Carolina Panthers 4-1. This is the Rams 6th World Series win, putting them in a two-way tie with the Portland Timbers for second most World Series banners.
