Shortstop, Chico Fernandez, was the first, debuting on 1957's Opening Day and third baseman, John Kennedy was next debuting a few days later. Kennedy was soon gone, however, playing a total of only 5 MLB games. Harmon was third, coming to the Phillies later that year via a trade with the St. louis Cardinals. Harmon was also the first black player to play in the majors for the Cincinnati Reds when he made his major leagues' debut on April 17, 1954.
Harmon's teams in his four year major leagues career were:
1954-1956: Cincinnati Reds; 1956-1957: St. Louis Cardinals;
1957: Philadelphia Phillies.
