It's been entertaining watching how they do (short story: not well). However, I'm not motivated to repeat that process every few months. I understand that it's not a conspiracy--it's a business model. But ultimately I suspect it will not attract many like me, who aren't hardcore OOTP buffs, and lure them away from the other simulation options out there. As noted in another response, it will split the playerbase which may not be healthy for PT in the longer run.
If it were web based that would solve the problem of not splitting the player base.
