Walkers news: July 25 -- Chicago 10, St. Louis 8

Record: 42-30, 2nd, 4 GB Des Moines
Acquired from St. Louis in the offseason, outfielder Jabari Blash made the River Walkers pay with a pair of home run including a two-run shot off Daniel Hudson in the bottom of the eighth inning that helped give Chicago an 10-8 win at Wrigley Field (1979).
Blash's first homer had come in the third inning, a solo blast off St. Louis starter Danny Duffy which made it 5-3.

Josh Donaldson had preceded Blash's at-bat with a two-run homer.
In the trade where Chicago landed Blash, along with third base prospect J.D. Davis, it had sent Duffy to the River Walkers.
St. Louis watched a 5-0 evaporate as Duffy had all kinds of problems.
He could not get out of the fifth inning, having allowed six runs on nine hits in 4.2 innings.
Chicago led 6-5 when he departed.
A Victor Caratini two-run single off Keone Kela with two outs in the sixth later put the G-Men ahead 8-6 after the Walkers had tied it.
Nicky Delmonico's two-run homer off Joe Kelly in the top of the seventh, tied it again.
But that only lasted until the bottom of the eighth, when Blash took Hudson deep.
A tiring Michael Feliz issued St. Louis a pair of walks in the top of the ninth, but didn't allow anyone to score as he earned his fifth win of the season.
Chicago needed eight pitchers to get through the game. St. Louis sent six hurlers out to the mound.
