Kinda weird having the first game in March; maybe that's why the Hoggs forgot how to play for the first week and a half of the season. Rollie Fingers had a 16.20 ERA after his first 4 games, with 3 losses and 2 blown saves. The rest of the team must've got all their fielding gloves mixed up because they were piling on error after error (team defensive efficiency was down near .600 at one point as well).
But then they got themselves back in sync. From a 3-7 start they went 13-3 to finish the day 16-10. That's good enough for 2nd in our division, 3 1/2 games behind the high-flying Walk With Elias.
PP were hard to come by, though. Just 340.
Luis Aparicio hit successfully in the first 15 games of the season. Finished the month with a slash-line of .303/.319/.406, which is enough for an OPS+ of 101, which might be the highest he'll ever go! I expect significant regression to the mean, but if he can put up +4.7ZR each month until the end of the season then who cares!
As mentioned earlier, added Andrew Chafin to the pen. Playing him in a setup role at the moment and he's going well (1-0 with 1 save and 4 helds; 1.86 ERA - his FIP and WHIP are high-ish but with my late-inning infield defense (2B Fox, SS Aparicio, 3B Simmons) I figure we should get him out of most jams). Look at those splits vs LHB!
