Walkers news: Sept. 11 -- St. Louis 10, Quad City 1

St. Louis cranked five home runs and got a strong mound effort from Carlos Martinez to propel the River Walkers to a 10-1 win over Quad City at Busch Stadium.
Rhys Hoskins homered twice, and Andrew Benintendi, Nicky Delmonico and Endre Inciarte all went deep once in the victory.

The Walkers took the lead in the bottom of the first without the benefit of the long ball, as Benintendi tripled with two outs and scored on a wild pitch by Q-C starting pitcher Josh Tomlin.
Martinez scored Hoskins with a bases-loaded sacrifice bunt in the second inning, to up the edge to 2-0.
Benintendi opened the home-run onslaught when he greeted Tomlin with a homer to lead off the third inning.
Martinez pitched into the seventh inning, before exiting. He allowed one run on five hits in 6.1 innings. He struck out eight and walked three.
Justin Turner provided the Thunder its lone run with a homer in the fourth inning.
John Curtiss finished the game off, handling the final seven outs of the game.
