Different drive would be OK too, as I've got an SD card always plugged in. Same system folder, same user is what I'm hoping for.

I do not think that this would work, as you will likely run into a conflict on the license file. At the very least it would have to be two separate users, which might technically be made to work (can't say about the TOS).
