Walkers news: July 23 -- Madison 7, St. Louis 3

With a substantial lead in the National League West, a loss here and there should not hurt the defending Midwest Baseball League Champion St. Louis River Walkers.
But this one might.
The struggles for 2018 Cy Young award winner Jake deGrom continued, but what happened in their 7-4 loss to the Madison Muskies at Comiskey Park could really take a toll.
de Grom recorded just one out and threw just 13 pitches before leaving the game with his team already down 4-0.
The big hit he allowed was a three-run home run from Matt Olson. The extent of the injury still isn't known.
Delmonico, meanwhile, left the game after getting hurt running the bases during the second inning.
Like De Grom, the extent of Delmonico's injury is unknown. For the season, Delmonico is batting .259 with 19 homers and 67 RBIs.
A two-run single from Chad Pinder in the fifth inning off Jake Diekman stretched Madison's lead to 6-1.
Francisco Lindor had an RBI double off Jerry Blevins to make it 7-1.
All that made a three-run homer from Andrew Benintendi in the eighth inning pretty much inconsequential.
Although, the Walkers did have the tying run at the plate in the top of the ninth.
However with runners at first and second and one out, Justin Wilson came on to get Tucker Barnhart and Adeiny Hechavarria to fly out to end it.
