I agree teams shouldn't sandbag to drop a level and dominate. But I don't get the sense that's what the people who are raising concerns want.
Most of them seem to be in the same boat I am - our money's spent, our teams are basically set, and we just want to be in a league with some parity where we have a chance to compete over time, enjoy the game, and have a reason to log in on Fri/Sat (maybe even with a hope of making the playoffs).
I can speak from experience, I love PT but it's not fun to be 15 games out on Wed/Thurs for weeks on end. It's not fun to repeatedly play teams with a dozen perfects when you're fielding mostly golds and cheap diamonds. It's not fun to know that not one of your SP's would even make another team's bullpen. At least it's not fun for me (and I assume others as well).
The game's dynamic and some teams cap out before others. Some teams keep improving, others don't. Unlike the SP game, you can't improve through the draft or developing players. Once the money's spent, you're done making meaningful improvements at high levels absent an absurdly lucky pull.
The goal IMO, once you cap out and can't improve much, should be to find a level where you are competitive but not dominant. It's not about winning (for me at least), it's about having a reasonable chance to compete over time so that the seasons stay relevant and fun.
