The high-silver Brooks Robinson and Ozzie Smith cards are the same for me as well.

Those two, along with McReynolds, have stuck on my team even as I've improved the rest of the team with cards that rank far higher.

Those guys just keep pushing higher rated guys out of the lineup and off the team by outperforming them, due to their incredible defense and passable offense.

Jim Gilliam (78) is similar at 2B/LF (but can be trained to play strong to elite defense at any position), and for platoon bats, Joe Medwick (76) and Steve Sax (76) also can punch far above their weight, if you only use them against lefties.

For pitchers, control artists like Randy Jones, Fred Newman and Tom Burgmeier are pretty good choices as well.
