The Seattle Mariners got a magnificent effort from pitcher Mark Langston, who kept Oakland hitters in check en route to a 3-1 Mariners win at Kingdome. Seattle improves to 66-43 with the win. They lead their division by 3½ games.
Langston earned the win, going 8 strong innings for Seattle. The native of San Diego, California allowed just 3 hits, while striking out 9. Oakland hitters did next to nothing against the left-hander.
"I liked his command," said Seattle manager . "Mark was throwing strikes."
