08/02/1986 - Twins Stymie Oakland, Take 4-1 Win

The Minnesota Twins picked up a win at Hubert H Humphrey Metrodome, knocking off the Oakland Athletics, 4-1. On the mound for Minnesota was left-hander Neal Heaton, who played a pivotal role in the win. In 8.2 innings, Heaton surrendered 8 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Frank Pastore was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 13 of 14 save opportunities.

The Twins picked up the win with a combination of good hitting and good pitching.

"We'll enjoy this win," said Heaton. "But there's more we hope to accomplish."

The Twins bumped their record to 55-48 with this latest triumph.
