09/21/1983 - Cardinals Lose 7-2 Decision to Mets

New York first baseman Dave Kingman had a 3-RBI game, which helped his team beat the St. Louis Cardinals, 7-2. The winner was Walt Terrell, who threw 118 pitches over 8 innings. The right-hander was charged with 2 runs on 8 hits. New York is now 68-84, St. Louis 83-69.

The Mets got a big at-bat from second baseman Brian J Giles. For the game, Giles went 1-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the top of the fifth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 6th home run of the season gave New York a 2-1 lead.

"I felt we were ready to go," said New York manager . "Our pregame was pretty good."
