07/22/1983 - Mets Get Road Win, 6-3
New York and Cincinnati duked it out at Riverfront Stadium and the Mets came out victorious.
New York beat Cincinnati on the strength of starter Tim Leary's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a 6-3 win. Jesse Orosco notched his 22nd save in 25 chances.
A crucial at-bat came with a runner on 1st and no one out in the top of the seventh inning. That's when center fielder George Foster, who is tied for 4th in the NL in home runs with 19, hit a double. The Mets went on to win.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Foster said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
At 45-50, the Mets are currently 5th in the NL East Division.
