09/28/1982 (Game 1) - Kingman Busts Epic Slump, Slugs Mets to 5-1 Win

A 3-RBI performance from Dave Kingman, who is a six-time All-Star, helped the New York Mets beat the Pittsburgh Pirates, 5-1. Mike Scott was the winning pitcher. Over 7 innings, he allowed 1 run on 5 hits, with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts. The Mets bumped their record to 88-67 with this latest triumph.

Kingman had a big at-bat with the bases empty in the bottom of the third inning, when he hit a solo home run. The Mets went on to win.

Kingman told a New York Gazette reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
