			The New York Mets defeated the Montreal Expos, 7-3, at Shea Stadium today. Leading the charge for New York was catcher John Stearns. He slugged 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice. The winner was Pete Falcone, who threw 127 pitches over 6.2 innings. The left-hander was charged with 3 runs on 8 hits. Jesse Orosco was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 1 of 2 save opportunities. 
 
Dave Kingman, who is tied for 2nd in the NL in extra base hits with 42, chipped in for New York with a 3-run home run in the bottom of the third. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 3 runs batted in. 
 
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Kingman.
