06/09/1981 - Reds Lose to Mets in Walk Off

People near Shea Stadium no doubt heard the roar of the crowd as the winning run crossed the plate.

The Mets got a big at-bat from second baseman Wally Backman. For the game, Backman was 1-1 with a double and a walk. In the bottom of the 11th, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 7th double of the season gave New York a 3-2 lead.

"It's a satisfying feeling, to win like we did," said Backman.
