05/01/1981 - Victory Pushes Mets Record to 9-9

The New York Mets topped the San Diego Padres, 8-3, in NL action at Shea Stadium. The player of the game was New York pitcher and Brooklyn, New York native Ed Lynch. Lynch went 8.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 2, and struck out 1. His record improves to 2-0. The Padres fall to 9-12 and continue to sputter in the early going.
