10/01/1980 - Kingman Hits 2 home runs in Cubs Win

Chicago first baseman Dave Kingman made his presence felt in the 9-1 Cubs triumph over the Philadelphia Phillies. Kingman went 2 for 4 with 2 home runs and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 4. The winner was Randy Martz, who threw 120 pitches over 9 innings. The right-hander was charged with 1 run on 9 hits. The slumping Phillies have dropped 7 in a row.

Kingman had a key at-bat for Chicago early in the game. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a 3-run home run. It was his 38th home run of the season and gave Chicago an early 3-0 lead.

"Feels good to get the job done," Kingman said after the game.
