There is no reason for you to try to rain on someone else's parade with your doom and gloom. The teams are already drifting apart in terms of talent. The lower leagues are becoming much more competitive. My completely free to play team, the
Happy Plankton(named that to show that you can have fun as whale food, if you take your fun where you find it.) are in a gold league and not getting embarrassed daily. In fact they are on the bubble to perhaps be promoted again. They have one diamond, a Carasco, one gold, and the rest are silver and bronze. The top teams are not even in Diamond or Perfect level yet which will even allow more competitiveness in levels below Perfect. Do you have to be in the Perfect level to be happy? If so, spend some money to support OOTP. If not, then be happy in the league level that your team finds a home. If you forget that there are levels above yours and enjoy that level that you play in as if it were the Major Leagues, you will have fun.
