2019 Winter Meetings Day Two

"Now, we have a Keone Kela sized hole in our bullpen, and I'm not even sure if I agree with the Odor trade...," John whispered in my ear as we entered the Convention Center for day two. For those that do not realize, Mozeliak is my classic baseball voice and with the Kela problem, he is right.

"Yes, and the Diamondbacks have a Keone Kela sized right-hander in Frankie Montas for sale that throws 100 on the gun, had a bad year between rotation and pen, and could be a dynamite reliever making $545k next year. Sorry John, I already talked with Mike Hazen about that one while you were talking with the Cardinals brass." - "So, this is where we are heading first?"- "You bet it is, Hazen is around $25M in the red for his budget according to our financial department, he would sell us his sister if that shaves $545k off the payroll, and he does not like Montas."

December 13th – In a quickly orchestrated deal, the Rangers sent 2B Brandon Lowe(25, 0.5/1.5*) to the Diamondbacks for RHRP Frankie Montas(26, 4/4.5*). Montas started 20 games last season for them and posted a 4-7 record with a 5.22ERA and 139 strikeouts in 112 games. The Rangers intend to use him as a reliever exclusively.

In Other News:
December 13th – The Yankees resigned their star shortstop Didi Gregorius(29, 3*) for four years, and $54.9M. The 2019 AL All-Star stated that "this was the best deal on the table, and I'm happy to stay here in New York.
