GM Notes:
I had a rough week and the worst part is I am not sure what to do with this team. I did get rid of 2 big contracts which makes me happy, however I will miss Matsuo in the middle of the lineup. Now I just need to get some production from somewhere else, is that even possible?? Then again the real problem with this team is the pitching and it is tough to deal with this staff. I thought I had some depth and some talent... guess not.
We had two extra inning games this week, which I thought was weird. I really don't remember having any so far this year (its been a long year in real time). So I looked back at my record and we are 2-3 in extra innings games. That seems like such a low number for the first 89 games... I am not sure if that is a good thing or no, I am guessing with a 41 and 48 record it is a bad thing. Just odd in my opinion.
I should look to see who is on this team and where they came from, such a different crew of players than I remember. Players like Slavador Ferrer, Augusto Ramos, Zak Fisher, Joe Lawrence and Cecilio Ojeda.. I mean I know where some of them came from, but it is weird seeing these strange names appear in the box scores. Ferrer is the only home grown player, which we signed as a minor-league free-agent in 2035 and, honestly, he probably shouldn't be in the bigs. He has been known to be a great infielder which is why he has gotten this far. I just hope he can hit for us.
I am expecting big things from Cecilio Ojeda and Joe Lawrence. Ojeda however isn't happy about being traded to a top team to a bottom feeder. So we will see what we can do to make him happy. Hopefully making him a full-time SP will help. He isn't really a full-time starter right now, he needs to develop that third pitch (Curveball: 5/12). Joe Lawrence is a beast in the making and hopefully I can figure out a way to keep him around for a while in Chadds Ford. He could be the ace, actually ratings wise he is our ace.
With the deals I have made I haven't thrown the towel in yet, but it is close. I think we can possible salvage a decent year but that might just be wishful thinking... worst part is even after dealing those contracts I have no money for extensions. I don't know what to do, because I don't want to lose Juan Guzman. Maybe I leave Chadds Ford and sign Guzman wherever I end up. You can always use a back-up IF'er right?
