Matt Keough Houston Astros 1986

Matt Keough was a righthander of mostly average attainments who enjoyed a couple years of success with the Billy Martin A's of the early 1980s. Like everybody else in that starting rotation and many other pitchers who worked for Billy, Keough paid for that brief success with a wrecked arm. He hung around gamely for a while, getting stints with the Yankees, Cubs, and finally the Astros in their 1986 division title charge. Keough was one of a bunch of guys (Danny Darwin, Manny Hernandez, Mike Madden, etc.) whom Hal Lanier ran in and out of the rotation in order to keep his four regulars (Nolan Ryan, Mike Scott, Bob Knepper, Jim Deshaies) rested. Like others I had been looking in vain for a decent shot of Keough with Houston, and I found one today on Getty Images. Here it is. Now, if we could only find a color shot of him with Chicago...
