A sac fly for Ian Happ got the NL on the board in the top of the 1st, but the AL was able to respond in the bottom half on an RBI groundout to short from Brian Jordan to level things at 1-1. The top of the third saw the NL break out (against Toad Ramsey no less) with an RBI double by Devon Travis (Woot! Woot!), and a two-run shot for Trevor Story to give them a 4-1 lead. Chuck Hinton hit a sac fly in the top of the 7th to make it 5-1. Johnny Damon would hit a two-run triple in the bottom of the 7th, but that was as close as the AL would get.
I'm quite sure the NL manager was blasted by the Phillies for allowing Kirk Presley (who never made it above A+ ball IRL - thank you Spritze for your database) to throw 65 pitches in relief over 3.2 innings. The Washington Senators could not be blamed if they tore a strip off the AL manager for allowing Duane Ward (Woot! Woot!) to throw 32 pitches in the final 2 innings of the game. Geez guys...It's an All-Star game FFS. Dave Stieb (Woot! Woot!) also pitched a scoreless inning with 2 K. Devon Travis was named player of the game despite having the "3rd best performance of the day" (whatever!). Pretty pictures below...
