And overall does still have its uses, even with its limitations. But it's best to be aware that it is only a shorthand that's limited at best, and to plan your team and lineups while taking that into account.
Scrapping overalls completely sounds like a great idea to me (though I may be on my own with this). Allows you to generate your own idea of what the overall is and would get rid of this whole idea that you just need to gather up all the high rated cards and try to field a team.
