V'S HURLERS GIVE THEM THE EDGE
The Volusia Vigilantes with a 105-49 record are loaded for bear this season with its overpowering pitching, led by starters record-setting Lonny Rinehart (31-6/1.96), Gustavo Clemente (11-4/2.46), Reynaldo Medrano (22-10/2.51) and Philip Duron (16-16/3.31) and backed up by a solid bullpen of closer Dan Hunt (2-2/1.44 ERA/31 saves/45 G) and #5 starter Cloyd Queen (15-6/3.79)... however, the V's only have average bats and this will give the Macs a chance to upset them... they are outgunned by the Sundowners at the plate... the V's skipper Tubby Tarkanian really needs his offense to step it up... he depending on Teddy Cornelius (.318 BA/20 HR/99 RBI/86 R/4 SB), Clement Belliveau (.285/14/59/70/10 SB), Kris Sheffield (.256/10/79/57/4 SB) and Carlos Silva (.307/10/52/78) to get his team enough runs to whip Wynnamac.

Wynnamac is a heck of a team with fine hitting, good power and strong pitching and a not too shabby 96-58 season mark... the Sundowners' staff is anchored by vets George Medworth (22-13/2.49) and Sammy Hayes (19-11/2.61), aided by impressive rookie Kuparr Bunji (21-11/3.19)... but they have had trouble in the #4 spot in the rotation... the Macs have a fine closer, too, in Tike Collazo (4-3/1.52 ERA/28 saves/44 G)... the Volusian pitchers have to shut down the Macs' attack, featuring Manny Sendejas (.291/34/119/109/8 SB), Snooky Bartels (.337/28/109/100/1 SB), Enos Benham (.379/24/93/100) and Marvin Hayes (.279/11/54/62)... Wynnamac has outhomered Volusia 152 to 112 this season and outscored them 794 to 690.
