The explanation that keeps the voices in my head calm has to do with how the self-declared Hall of Fame pundits always throw stuff like the 7-year peak of a player around. So the peak will be his best seven years, averaged out, but an individual season card might be better than that average.

It's the only reasoning that keeps the world spinning for me.
