GM’s notebook - Series 30 and 31
Lansing 1-8 Magpies
Lansing 4-1 Magpies
Lansing 2-3 Magpies
Bismarck 6-0 Magpies
Bismarck 1-0 Magpies
Bismarck 4-2 Magpies
- Israel Padilla threw a brilliant complete game in the first match of this week-long homestand: 9 IP, 4 H, 1 ER, 2 BB, 6 K.
- There are rumblings that Luis Vélez is getting frustrated with the lack of run support from his colleagues in the lineup. In the second Sharks game he threw 8.1 innings of 1-run ball, but took a no-decision.
- The offense was just dire in the 1-0 loss to the Coyotes. Just 2 base hits and no walks. Tom Hart’s terrific performance (8 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 4 BB, 9 K) was totally wasted.
- Johannes Kepler kept the team in the locker room for over 2 hours after the final Bismarck game. Shouting and banging could be heard throughout. At the end, the players and coaches left in silence without saying a word to the waiting reporters. Johannes said to me later: “Some things needed to be said. Our current play is totally unacceptable.”
- Let’s hope that has an impact, because our lead in the North Division has gone.
This week: 2-4
Record: 54-39, =1st place, tied with Madison
