That is really all it is. It is team building and setting up the lineups and strategies for your team to follow. For example, since my bullpen is better than my starters I set my worst starters to be pulled quicker. I set my speedy leadoff batter to steal more than the rest of the team, etc.
I have also jockeyed with the lineup quite a bit. My nine game losing streak came after I let the computer reset my lineups. I finally changed them back to how I had them before and that finally won me a game.
