Briefly is right. Cottier played--briefly--for the Seattle Angels in 1968. The Angels, that year, were essentially a co-op farm team of California and the Pilots. While with the Seattle Angels, the Pilots acquired his contract from California, though Chuck didn't have to change uniforms or move or anything. He remained a Seattle Angel. About 2 weeks later (May 13...B-R says approximate, but newspaper accounts say that's the date), Seattle (Angels or Pilots, take your pick) traded him to the Portland Beavers for Gus Gil. It was ostensibly a minor league transaction and eluded Baseball-Reference until very recently. BTW, California bought him back a few months later.

FWIW, before the transaction was added to B-R, I'd done this "modification" of Cottier for my own Pilots' set. Started with a fairly common Senators picture. Maybe it can spare Krantz the extra work. I love the dog in the "new" background I gave him (that's the minor league park of the nearby Down East Wood Ducks, if anyone's wondering).
