SHOWDOWN WEEK IN THE ISLANDS
Heading into the last week of the 2058 season, 4 clubs have already cinched spots in the IPA Pro Cup playoffs and one is close to doing it... Wynnamac and Volusia are already victors in the Ruthlandian Union and Arlon and Southport are pennant winners in the Tycobbian Union.... the Valmara Vipers should wrap up their division crown in a few days... but the other three divisions will be fighting tooth-and-nail down to the final day of the season.
However, with only 8 games left to play, it's make or break time... time to put up or shut up for 9 playoff hopefuls in the final week of play in the Islandian Pro Alliance... it's sinks or swim time for the Crystal Lake Skippers (83-63), who carry a skinny 1-game lead over the second place St. John Crusaders (82-64) in the Ruthlandian South Division... the Crusaders were 4-2 this week and cut 2 games off the lead when the Skippers went 2-4.
Two divisions are still up in the air in the Tycobbian Union... in the TU East, the Midway Wolves (85-61) are 2 games up on the second place Red Bluff Red Sox (83-63) and 3 in front of the surprising Hillsboro Blazers (82-62), who are still clinging tough... the Middies and Red Sox were 4-2 this week, but the Blazers slipped to just 2-4... upstart South Fork (78-68) went 2-4 and pretty much dropped out of contention... the Stallions are 7 games back of first place Midway.
4 teams are still challenging in the TU North where the first place Luxora Zorros (85-61) have a 2-game edge on last year's division champ the Oxford Red Caps (83-63)... the North Hills Hawks (81-65) and Fairfax Frogs (81-65) are longshots, tied for third place and 4 games back... the Z's won 4 of 6 games this week... the Red Sox were a disappointing 2-4... the Hawks were a really bad 1-5 and the Frogs continued to play great ball with a 5-1 mark.

its a good pennant race in the TU North this year huh. and how bout the blazers, i was rooting for them to win the pennant but i guess its unlikely. i always root for the underdog.
