I think one of the coolest features in the game is the evolution of the league over time. Seeing expansion, rule changes, etc over the course of decades adds something fresh. Was thinking of a few new options that could be used.

Change Playoff Format- Would be cool to see this change over time as it has in MLB. Perhaps the playoffs shift to a 4,6 or 8 team format in each league. Perhaps the divisional series moves to a 7 game series. Or the wild-card moves to a 3-game series. World Series maybe goes to 9 games (it has been in the past).

This is probably complicated to code in but I think could be fun. Especially as leagues expand, the need for more teams makes sense. So perhaps a league hitting a certain number of teams might trigger a higher probability of the playoffs expanding. Or the regular season shortening might trigger a higher probability of expanding the number of games in a playoff series.

Division Realignment - Might go hand in hand with expansion or the playoff format changing. But I hate unequal divisions so if the league is at 32 teams, I'd much rather see 4 divisions of 8 or 8 divisions of 4.

Also maybe just as simple as swapping a team with another in a league. Maybe with an emphasis on teams in the same city (so the New York or Chicago teams are in the same division).

New Stadiums - Teams building new stadiums over time that change the capacity, dimensions, etc. Perhaps this brings in new revenue for a team. Perhaps the older your stadium, the harder it is to draw attendance at high dollar amounts.

Or just upgrades of stadiums. Simple tweaks like "The Mets have extended their wall in left field by 8 feet" which would have a corresponding affect on their ballpark factors. Or stadium has added 2,000 new seats to it's capacity which can increase revenue.
