In the top of the first, the Cubs put runners on the corners with nobody out and then Chance beat out the 5-4-3 to pick up the RBI. Schulte followed with his 20th double of the season to put runners at second and third with one out. Tinker then flied out to left and Odwell threw Chance out at home when he had tagged up.

In the bottom of the first, Barry tied the game with an RBI single. Odwell added his own RBI single to give the Reds the lead. Schlei followed with a single to pick up his 60th RBI of the season.

In the top of the second, Slagle picked up his 25th stolen base of the season when he swiped second with one out. But he would be stranded there.

After three: Cincinnati 3 Chicago 1.

In the top of the fourth, Schulte scored on a wild pitch to cut the Reds lead to one. Evers then tied it with an RBI double.

In the top of the fifth, the Cubs loaded the bases with one out. Tinker then gave the Cubs the lead back with an RBI single. Evers hit a fly ball to center for the second out. Slagle then brought home two with a single.

In the top of the sixth, Sheckard tacked on an RBI single.

After six: Chicago 7 Cincinnati 3.

In the top of the ninth with a man on second, Tinker hit an inside the park home run.

The Cubs ended up outhitting the Reds 14-3.

Final score: Chicago 9 Cincinnati 3.

In the top of the first, Chance got the scoring started with an RBI single. Slagle then scored on a passed ball. Tinker then brought Chance home with a sacrifice fly.

In the bottom of the seventh with one out, Odwell was hit by a pitch for the 10th time this season. But he would be stranded at first.

Pfiester went on to claim the complete game shutout to give the Cubs the double header sweep.
